PAINTING

Painting is my trade – using either paint or light, but here I mean painting in the classic sense - normally oil on canvas.
Painting has been my thing ever since I started my basic artistic education in 1978 at KV’s Art Academy in Kristianstad. There I gained the qualifications for entry to Beckaman’s fashion design school in Stockholm. I applied and was accepted there, but opted for another path and enrolled at Forum - Malmö School of Painting and Sculpture instead, where I studied between 1980-86.
The work I do in my studio helps me to develop artistically on all levels, and my painting adds courage and confidence to the rest of my work, for example my work with light.
I am currently working with portraits and extreme and enlarged close-ups. My subject matters are often simple things but also sometimes provocative in their colour and expressions.
I also like to challenge commonly accepted and banal concepts and ideas, to manipulate them into a deeper and different dimension where they become irresistible.
